What is an email list?
An email list is the set of contacts who agreed to receive emails from your business.
An email list holds the addresses, and often names and other details, of people who signed up to hear from you. You build it through website sign-up forms, checkout, events and in-person requests. Many tools let you split one list into segments or tags, such as past customers versus new leads. Buying or renting lists is risky and often against your email tool's rules.
Why it matters for your business: Your email list is an audience you own. Social platforms can change their rules, but your list stays with you.
