What is prominence in local search?
In local search, prominence is how well known and well regarded a business is. It is one of Google's three main local ranking factors.
Prominence measures how established and trusted a business seems. Google looks at signals such as how many reviews you have and your ratings, mentions and links across the web, articles and directories that list you, and how well your website does in regular search. Well-known landmarks and brands tend to score high. Prominence grows over time as your reputation does.
Why it matters for your business: Steadily earning reviews, keeping listings accurate and getting mentioned in local news and directories all build prominence and help you rank in the map pack.
